The card game "Ramsas", also known as "Bumu" or "Wet Hen", is very popular in Lithuania game for two to four players. Ramsas is believed to have originated in the early 20th century and derived from Rams' originated from the Mexican game 'Conquian' and soon became rapidly popular all over the world. Game is fun and easy, but once you start playing it is hard to stop!

Usually "Ramsas is in play with 24 cards. There are variations with one or two 52-card decks. The usual order of rank is Ace, King, Queen, Jack, Ten and Nine.

Dealing of cards

"In Ramse, the card dealers always rotate clockwise. The first dealer shuffles the deck thoroughly and passes it first to the player on the right. In the Rams rules, the cards are dealt one to each player. The deal is clockwise. After one round has been dealt, one card face down shall be placed in the middle of the table and the cards shall be dealt one by one. The cards are dealt until each player has five cards and there are 4 cards on the table. These cards are referred to in the game as the 'purchase'.

If there are fewer than 4 players, the remaining cards are set aside and are no longer used in that game. Once the cards have been dealt, the gamble phase of the game begins. The player to the left of the dealer can buy the 4 cards placed on the table at the start of the deal phase. In some cases, all players refuse to buy, in which case the cards are untouchable and do not participate in further play. If the players place their hole cards on the table and say "I'm not playing", they are also out of the game. It is important to note that not all players can refuse. If there is a player from previous games who is one point short of victory, he is vetoed and cannot refuse to play. In this case, his turn is skipped and the right to buy passes to his friend on his left. It also happens that players give up their points easily! For example, if all players except the buyer refuse to play, the buyer immediately wins 5 points and a new game is called.

The game continues with the crosses. If there was a card buyer in the game, he has the right to start his turn first. If there was no such person, the opponent to the left of the player who dealt the cards starts the turn. To win a draw, the opponent's hole card may only be discarded by a higher card of the same suit.

The calculation of card strength is as follows:

  1. If 2 cards of the same rank are dealt, the higher ranked card wins the draw.
  2. If 2 cards of the same rank are dealt, the higher card is the one dealt first.
  3. If any card and trump collide, the latter is always stronger.

If 2 trumps collide, the higher ranked card wins the draw again. For example, the first player has thrown a nine of clubs, so the second player should throw a ten of clubs. If he does not have such a card, but has a trump, he discards it because it is the strongest card in the game. If he does not have a trump, he throws any card, but the fact is that he has not already won this club. It is possible that a player cuts all of his opponent's cards and continues to make successful moves after having already eliminated one opponent.

There are some special rules in this game that must not be forgotten. If a player has in his hands
has an ace of trumps and is dealt his first move, he must make that move with that card. If a player forgets or deliberately does not place the card, keeps it in the next game and his teammates see it, he will be penalized. His most powerful card becomes powerless and turns into a trump nine.

In the next game, when the latter ace and the other nine meet, the previously dealt ace is the higher of the two cards.

Who won and scoring

After the game, when the players have made all their picks, the scoring begins. Each player starts the Rams with 0 points. The number of points needed to win is usually agreed at the start of the game. Usually the game is played to 20 or 25 points.

1 cross equals 1 point. After a game, all the player's crosses made in that game are added to the total points. Again, there are "hooks" in the scoring. If a player does not score a single pick in a game, he shall be penalized and lose 5 points if his total is positive at that time. For example, if a player already has 3 points but does not score a single pick, 5 points are deducted and the player's total is -2 points, but if the player already has a negative number of points, no more points are deducted. Also, no points may be deducted if at the beginning of the game, after the cards have been dealt, it has been forgotten to ask if there are any non-players.

Similarly, if a player is one point short of 20 and makes a pick, the game is ended immediately and the winner is declared. Also, to get even more points, don't forget the most important characters in the game - the Jacks! If, after the cards have been dealt, a purchase has been made and surrender has been declared, any player has 2 Jacks of the same suit and shows them to his opponents, he also gets 5 points. It is also important to note that this bonus is only awarded if a player wins at least one die during the game. If a player is lucky enough to get even 4 jacks that day, he calls out the name of the game, "Rams", and wins the game immediately.
