Poker is not a niche game encountered by a minority. Quite the opposite—many people who enjoy card games or are encouraged by friends and social media come across poker.
That's why it's no surprise to us, and we believe to you as well, that famous personalities—athletes, musicians, actors, etc.—sit at poker tables.
“PokerioMokykla.com” presents to you its new entertainment section, where we will tell you about celebrities who have appeared in the poker world.
Part III of the article series
Aaron Paul (actor)
The actor, who became extremely famous thanks to “Breaking Bad,” “The Path,” and “Need For Speed,” is a passionate poker player. At one point, he joined sports stars in the “PokerStars” project and participated in a “YouTube” series of the game.
However, he cannot be classified among the best poker players. According to information found online, he participated in live tournaments only once (in the Bahamas). The actor is not even listed in the online poker player database.
Kevin Hart (actor)
This little guy is everywhere. The very famous actor not only manages to star in numerous film projects but also makes his mark in other areas of the entertainment world. The American is a big basketball fan, having participated in the National Basketball Association (NBA) “All-Star Weekend” event and becoming the most valuable player (MVP) of the celebrity exhibition match. Besides all that, K. Hart does not shy away from poker.
The actor, who has starred in “Get Hard,” “Scary Movie 4,” “The Wedding Ringer,” and many other films, has recently become very active in the poker scene. His new activity is closely related to this card game—K. Hart became a partner of “PokerStars” at this year's “PokerStars” championship, sponsored by the Monte Carlo casino. As the actor himself says in this fun video, his goal is to make poker cool (fun).
The comedian participated in the “PokerStars Championship Bahamas” 100,000 EUR buy-in tournament in January. It was after this that the agreement with the poker giant was announced.
“I love bringing people together,” he said. “It's amazing that poker is a game that can bring people from all over the world together at one table, giving them the opportunity to communicate, get to know each other, and, after leaving the table, people can have connections they never imagined.”
The colorful personality conveyed all his enthusiasm with his words, so we present other excerpts from his interviews:
“I love life, I love love and laughter. I want to bring this energy to the poker tables, and when I do, poker will be elevated… I will make poker a fun game again, and ‘PokerStars' will give me the platform to do it. I'm happy that all these professional players are here, with whom I can compete and take money from. And the best part is that anyone can play poker. It doesn't matter if you're like Daniel Negreanu making millions or playing for pennies in your kitchen.”
From K. Hart and his sense of humor, help is expected to reach wider audiences and attract even more people to poker. However, this certainly did not hinder the stars of this game. Dan Bilzerian shared a photo with K. Hart, and the actor himself admitted that playing with such a professional was fun. Moreover, there was no silence at the table, as both guys are inclined to verbal communication.
“Such games are heavyweight ego battles. It's a game where you hear things I can't even repeat out loud,” K. Hart said about his experience.
After the aforementioned tournament, the “2017 Super High Roller Bowl” followed. The buy-in for this tournament alone cost 300,000 USD. It gathered 56 high-level players, and the prize pool reached 16 million. K. Hart did not lack confidence in this tournament either: “I love high-stakes poker, and there's no better place to play it than the ‘Super High Roller Bowl.' I look forward to the support of my fans who will watch me climb over opponents on ‘Poker Central.'”
These words did not come true, as he did not reach the highest places. Nevertheless, it was interesting. He promised to simulate a sexual act with the table after winning, and he did. It seems that this is not the last of K. Hart's fun at the poker table.
