Misfits vs exceL eSports, LEC 2020-06-27 match review

Week 3 of the LEC 2020 summer season tournament. In the match on the second day, two mid-tier teams that won on Friday will face off and try to finish the week without any losses. This won't be a top-tier match like Fnatic versus G2, but there will still be plenty of action, and it's much easier to find a higher value bet here. We will review both teams and, as usual, provide a match prediction at the end.

Febiven Misfits

Misfits

Misfits currently rank in the middle of the tournament table, sharing 6th place with 3 wins and 3 losses alongside tournament favorites like Origen and G2. Misfits entered the summer season strengthened by one of the best ADC role players in Europe, Kobbe, who returned to Europe from the LCS championship team TSM. He quickly integrated into the team, and under his leadership, Misfits posed a serious challenge to Fnatic in the first match of the summer season. At one point, Misfits had destroyed all 3 inhibitors and had over a 90% chance of winning, but a lack of experience led to a few tactical mistakes and ultimately a loss.

Misfits continue to prove they are one of the best early-mid game teams in the league, as evidenced by their champion selections. In each match, Misfits try to gain as much advantage as possible in the early game stage to finish before the opposing team reaches their strongest point in the game. This style of play can be effective and interesting for the viewer, but if they don't gain a significant advantage early on, Misfits will simply have no chance of winning once the game reaches the mid-late phase.

Overall, this season, Misfits team members also look very good individually, and Febiven is proving that he was undervalued while playing in America. He is showing that he is one of the best mid-laners in Europe and, together with Kobbe, will try to lead Misfits back to the playoffs.

exceL eSports Patrik

exceL eSports

exceL eSports currently rank 8th in the tournament table with 2 wins and 4 losses. Nevertheless, the team, which was a pleasant surprise last season, has already played against all four of the current Top 4 league teams this summer season: Rogue, Mad Lions, Origen, and SK Gaming. Indeed, these matches were not one-sided, but at one point or another, a lack of experience and individual skill led to exceL's collapse and defeat.

Despite opening the summer season with 4 consecutive losses, exceL rehabilitated with 2 consecutive wins. They defeated SK Gaming and Schalke 04, and moreover, the victories were achieved quite easily. exceL dominated both matches from the first minutes and simply left no chance for their opponents.

As long as exceL continues to leverage their strongest line, the bottom lane players Tore and Patrik, they will continue to have good chances to extend their winning streak. Jungle position player Caedrel was one of the best junglers in the league last season, but he did not shine in the first matches of this season. However, recently this player also seems to have gained better form, and a large part of the team's success against Misfits' jungler Razork will depend on his play.

Prediction

This match should be very competitive, and the winner will undoubtedly be determined by small details. It is likely that both teams will focus on the early-mid game stage, and the team that gains a greater advantage will win the match. Both teams can play perfectly at times but also make mistakes in seemingly the strangest places. Because of this, the exceL team seems to be undervalued, as their chances of winning are estimated at only 30%. Nevertheless, this match is at least evenly matched, and if we had to choose a favorite, considering the teams' forms in the last 2 matches, we would give a slight advantage to the exceL team.
