It is very important that our databases contain only useful information for us. Poker changes every day, good players learn and constantly improve, analyze their opponents, and change their game. Nowadays, even poor players improve and change their game quite quickly. So, this is the first reason why we need to update our information, so that the PokerTracker or HoldemManager program does not mislead us by showing how a player played two years ago. I would recommend keeping the data from the last 6 months, if you want more, then up to a year.
The second reason to update information is when we move up in limits. Many players may play a certain way when playing tours up to $20, but as they move up, they change their game because the opponents change. So, if we meet them in the 20+ limits, we no longer want to have a thousand hands from the $3 limit.
