You don't have to look where you lost the most, you can make a bad decision and win a lot of chips, e.g. you stop KTs 50bb from utg, get a call and double, so here you are -EV but earned 50bb. Not a good decision, and when you shoot short stack it's just nash push fold range and that's it, you have to push according to the table, because it calculates what's worth pushing, but when you're left with 8bb, it's no longer the essential tournament hands. And you can check if you have played +EV with equilab, but there is also some speculation in the calculations there, you make a list of hands like the ones you think your opponent is raising or calling, then you make your hand, you squeeze the cards that are on the flop, and it will tell you how often the opponent is holding those cards and what the probability is of you being in front of them. You can do the same with shoves, note which cards your opponent pushes and your own hand and it will tell you the probability of winning.
