PokerStars tests new rewards programme

PokerStars has announced on its official website that it is testing a new player activity-based rewards programme. Around 20% PokerStars players have been eligible to try out this new system, but the results will have to wait, at least for now.

PokerStars Award (and. rewards) system has been cited by many users of the site as one of the biggest downsides of PokerStars. In response to player requests, PokerStars has decided to test a new system that will allow players to earn up to 65% in cashback. This is a bold improvement and a move that many experts see as a throwback to the days when PokerStars used to offer Supernova VIP levels, which offered cashbacks of up to 70%.

PokerStars has overhauled its rewards system to make the new rewards programme more transparent and clearer for players. The program will be radically different from the previous one, with bonuses and rewards for active and winning players instead of bonuses for losing.

The basic rewards system allows players to earn bonuses between 15% and 25%, while the most active players can earn additional cashback of up to 40% by completing "monthly challenges". This means that the total possible cashback could be up to 65%. With these changes, PokerStars would become the highest cashback offering poker operator, surpassing even giants such as GGPoker and Partypoker, which offer cashbacks below 60%.

New PokerStars bonus system will start at 15% for all players

"The Chest will remain the main driver of the bonuses awarded, but the prizes have already been sorted. Each Chest in the bonus program has a fixed prize amount, starting at $0.50 (Blue Chest) up to a maximum of $250 (Black Chest).

This means that every player, win or lose, will be eligible for bonuses of at least 15%. Further, as more and more points are accumulated, higher and higher chests will be unlocked, which will be the same for all players, in order to create a more transparent and fair system for all players, no longer singling out individual rewards.

For example, to unlock Blue Chesta, players will need to collect 333 bonus points by generating $3.33 rake, resulting in a bonus of $0.50. This points-based system will apply to all PokerStars players regardless of their profile.

Meanwhile, players will need to collect 2,850 bonus points to unlock the Silver Chest worth $5 (17.5% cashback). The higher the value of the Chest, the more points will be required to unlock it. The most expensive Chest, requiring 100,000 points, is the Black Chest worth $250 (25% cashback, the highest possible).

To reach a higher Chest, you will need to unlock Chests 5 to 10 times. For example, a player with a Blue Chest will need to unlock 5 Chests to level up; 7 Chests to level up from Silver to Gold; 10 Chests to level up from Diamond to Black, etc.
