Misfits vs exceL eSports, LEC 2020-06-27 match preview

Week 3 of the LEC 2020 Summer Season Tournament. In the second match of the day, the two middles, who won on Friday, meet and will try to finish the week without a loss. It won't be a top-level match like Fnatic vs G2, but there will be plenty of action and it's much easier to find a higher value bet. We'll take a look at both teams and, as usual, we'll end with a match prediction.
Febiven Misfits

Misfits

Misfits are currently in the middle of the standings with 3 wins and 3 losses, sharing 6th place with favourites like Origen and G2. Misfits entered the summer season with one of the best European ADC role players, Kobbe, who returned to Europe from the LCS championship TSM team. He quickly joined the team and under his leadership Misfits challenged Fnatic in the first match of the summer season. At one point Misfits had taken down all 3 inhibitors and had over 90% chances to win, but still the lack of experience got in the way and just a couple of tactical mistakes led to the defeat.

Misfits continues to prove itself as one of the best early-mid teams in the league, as evidenced by the champions' picks. Misfits tries to gain as much of an early advantage as possible in each match, in order to finish before the opposing team reaches their strongest point of the game. To some extent this style of play can be effective and fun for the spectator, but without a significant early game advantage, Misfits will simply not have a chance to win once the game reaches the mid-late phase.

Overall, the Misfits are also looking very good individually this season, and Febiven is proving that he has been underestimated unnecessarily while playing in America. He is proving that he is one of the best midfielders in Europe and together with Kobbe he will try to lead the Misfits back to the playoffs.

exceL eSports Patrik

exceL eSports

exceL eSports is currently 8th in the standings with 2 wins and 4 losses. However, last season's surprise team has already played all four of the current Top 4 teams in the league - Rogue, Mad Lions, Origen and SK Gaming - in this summer season. And indeed, these games were not played one way, but at one point or another the lack of experience and individual skill led to ExceL's collapse and defeat.

Despite opening the summer season with 4 consecutive defeats, exceL rehabilitated itself with 2 consecutive wins. SK Gaming and Schalke 04 were both defeated, and what's more, the victories were achieved quite easily. exceL dominated both games from the first minutes and simply didn't give their opponents a chance.

As long as exceL continues to play their strongest line, Tore and Patrik down low, they will have a good chance to extend their winning streak. Caedrel, who plays in the jungle position, was one of the best junglers in the league last season, but hasn't shone in his first games this season. However, he also seems to be in better shape lately and his play against Misfits jungler Razork will be a big part of the team's success.

Forecast

This should be a very tough match and the winner will definitely be decided by small details. Both teams are likely to focus on the early-mid phase of the game and the one with the bigger advantage will win the match. Both teams can play perfectly at times, but they can also make mistakes in seemingly the strangest of places. This is why the exceL team seems to be underestimated, as its chances of winning are valued at just 30%. Nevertheless, this match is at least evenly matched, and if we had to pick a favourite, we would give a slight edge to exceL based on the form of the teams in the last 2 matches.
