The Nevada Gaming Control Board announced that both in March and April, land-based casinos showed figures not seen in a long time. This is especially evident when comparing March 2020 and March 2021. This year's figures were even 28.255% higher than last year.
These numbers indicate that the market is finally recovering, and people are eagerly returning to land-based casinos. Overall, this is only the third instance where Nevada casinos won more than $1 billion in the month of April.
The biggest recovery is shown by casinos located on the Las Vegas Strip. As is known, they are very dependent on tourists, and although they have been operating for some time, at the beginning of the reopening, people were still afraid of various restrictions and did not feel safe.
Although the casino numbers are encouraging, it will still take some time for tourism numbers in Las Vegas to return to pre-pandemic levels. According to the provided data, the number of flights and hotel occupancy are still about 30% behind usual figures. Therefore, if you dream of visiting Las Vegas, now might be a great opportunity to do so more cheaply and with shorter lines.
It is worth mentioning that not only Las Vegas casinos are recovering, land-based casinos in Lithuania have also started operating. For now, they can only be accessed with a health pass.
