Antanas Guoga won a €351,579 prize in the High Roller tournament in the Czech Republic.

In the Czech Republic on October 30, Antanas Guoga took fourth place in the €100,000 buy-in no-limit poker “Leon's High Roller” tournament and pocketed a prize of €351,579. This tournament featured 23 players and 10 rebuys. Ultimately, after the rebuys ended, a prize pool of €3,135,000 was formed, which was divided among the top five players. Lithuanian Antanas Guoga finished in fourth place and won €351,579.

After this win, Antanas shared the following message on his Facebook page, setting a good example.

If Rūta Meilutytė swims, Jonas Valančiūnas dunks, and tennis player Ričardas Berankis shows his mastery on the tennis courts, then I play poker quite well.
Poker is a high-level strategic game that involves a lot of mathematics, mental calculations, probability theory, tactics, intuition, and psychology. You have to hide all your emotions, anxiety, and tension behind a winner's mask.
I've been in the Czech Republic for a few days now, among wolves – the toughest and most famous poker players in the world.
Poker is my hobby and also a sport. It's a game where I clearly know who I'm sitting at the poker table with and what I can lose. The most important thing is that my losses do not affect my quality of life at all, and the winnings are fun. Who doesn't like to win?
I always dedicate only as much to this sport as I can afford.
I'm glad that my hobby not only helps clear my mind but also allows me to earn money. Not just for myself. For the country's budget as well. I pay income tax on every win at the poker table as required by Lithuanian law. I am a Lithuanian citizen, and it is my duty, which I fulfill. Therefore, every well-played poker game, every achievement not only makes me famous but also Lithuania, and has direct value to our state's economy.
If I were very “smart” and financially rational (I know quite a few such people in Lithuania), I would use the “nondome” status in the UK. I lived there for many years and didn't have to pay any taxes; that's just the way it is there.
But I made the choice to return to my Homeland. I also brought back all my capital. I live and work here. I also create jobs for others. And it is my clear will to contribute to the state's economy. Through work, experience, advice to start-ups, investments, charity projects. Also through wins at the poker table, which turn into direct financial dividends for Lithuania.
A week among wolves is a big challenge for me. I miss my family, but the experiences and emotional charge are priceless. Just like our basketball players, who could probably tell their impressions even if woken up in the middle of the night when they played against the USA dream team.
Play to WIN.
