Our students: „Zeniok30” – a member who might quit his job for the MTT camp

„PokerioMokykla.com“, as the name suggests, aims to help players who are passionate about poker to improve. Therefore, it is no surprise that the greatest reward for all teachers is the good results of their students.

We strive for good results and are delighted when students are satisfied, proud of their progress and achievements.

We decided to talk about them and our training sessions with a student who recently achieved some great wins (more about them in the forum).

“My name is Jevgenijus, and I play online poker under the nickname „Zeniok30“. I started playing poker in my free time quite a while ago,” begins the interviewee. “We used to play live tournaments on weekend evenings with friends. One evening, a friend from our group boasted that he had won $1600 in online poker. That's when I found out that online poker existed. I tried it too. I made my first deposits and, of course, lost everything. For about 3 years, I played occasionally on weekends for fun, and I was constantly in the red.”

However, no one wants to play just to lose, so something had to change. That's how Jevgenijus got acquainted with poker training.

“Once, I came across beginner poker courses online – 45 lessons, starting with probability theory, etc. I listened to all the lessons. I gained a slightly different understanding of the game. By chance or not, I won my first online tournament for $2.2 on PokerStars.eu, and the prize was $1200. It felt good, and I realized it was possible. I started playing more often, but of course, I was still playing in the negative. I had a couple of small deep runs, but I felt I was doing something wrong. I used a cracked HM2 (HoldEm Manager), but those numbers didn't help me much. I mainly played MTT, SNG, but sometimes mixed in Cash games,” he recalls. But we talked about everything in more detail.

– How did you discover Poker School? How did you decide to become an active member? we asked our student.
– I knew that there were poker coaches and schools in the world. I often wondered why Lithuanians didn't come up with something similar, and to my surprise, I saw public analyses in Lithuanian on YouTube. Learning that such a school had appeared, I started to be interested in what was happening there. At that time, you could buy a membership in the school and study independently, or a learning package with personal lessons according to the discipline. I was interested in the training offered by “Peledazmogis,” but the price was such that I needed family approval for my step. This caused doubts, but the hour came, and the online gambling law changed in Lithuania. I thought, if gambling is banned, why spend money on training? I decided to write a personal message to one of the founders of the poker school – “Brilijant.” He explained everything to me in detail – how to change DNS settings on my computer, what that law meant, and that online poker was definitely not dying. I started asking him about his project, and he advised me that if I only play in my free time and want to start winning, it is enough to buy a school membership and study independently, and later, if I want, I can take private lessons. So “Brilijant's” openness and sincerity only encouraged me to become an active member of the school! 🙂

– How much of your life does poker currently occupy? Is it just a profitable hobby, or are you already taking it more seriously?
– Poker has recently taken up more and more space in my life. With certain results and profits, I started managing my bankroll. With frequent sessions, I acquired convenient work tools: a computer, a second monitor, and a comfortable chair. So, everything is becoming more serious. At the end of the year, evaluating my achieved results, I might take one of the most important steps in my life related to my main source of income…

– How did your improvement progress? How long after becoming a member did you make a qualitative leap?
– After becoming a member of the school, I didn't know where to start; there was a lot of information. The school advised me to decide on the discipline I wanted to improve in. Since I only played in my free time, I always mixed MTT, SNG, and Cash. This was the hardest part: SNG is dying, Cash is convenient in terms of time, but MTT has always been close to my heart, so I chose the latter. After choosing MTT, I started watching all the videos dedicated to this format. My understanding of the game began to change, but I still didn't have tangible results… Then a new feature appeared in the school – live lessons – during which coaches analyzed the tournaments of those students who uploaded them for free. I was lucky too – after uploading a tournament HH (hand history), the coach analyzed it during the lesson, and it opened my eyes to everything I was doing wrong. Then I started learning consistently, taking one technical element and improving it. I started taking notes on the most important things while watching videos. I began doing exercises before sessions, as advised by the coaches: watching the most interesting video, reading notes. And voila, one fine morning, I won a $2.2 tournament and added $1200 to my account. I had been a member of the school for 5 months before this win. Despite this period, I worked a lot and didn't give up. Then I gained confidence, and since then, my game curve has only been rising.

– How do you deal with bad beats?
– Bad beats in poker are probably the cruelest thing. At first, they really threw me off balance. I didn't even know how to deal with it, and the coaches' words that you have to accept it – the distance will put everything in its place – sounded mystical to me. Damn it! Nothing was falling into place for me! And then “Brilijant” saved me again with his psychological articles and videos that I found in Poker School. I read everything carefully, watched the videos. I liked a few videos so much that I even showed them to my wife! We watched them together and even started using the advice in our daily lives. That video, which talks about clapping your hands when something unpleasant happens – UNREAL!!! When my wife walks around the apartment and hears me clapping my hands and shouting “I'M GOOD” at the computer or on the balcony (during a tournament break), she comes and comforts me. We laugh together, and I sit back at the tables, already forgetting that a moment ago, the final table, which seemed within reach, slipped away. Now I sometimes look at it with a smile. When the killer river card comes, I smile, tell myself “it couldn't have been otherwise,” close the finished tournament window, and immediately forget everything because I know I played correctly, accurately predicted his range, and I enjoy that.

– Many professionals emphasize that it is very important to rest properly and have a hobby that helps to take your mind off things. What would that hobby or hobbies be for you?
– Since I'm not a poker professional, I don't yet feel the need to rest from poker. I actually count the days and minutes until the planned session. In my other free time, I really enjoy fishing (now I have less time for it thanks to poker), and before my knee injury, I used to physically exhaust myself in football training (I've been playing football since school). Also, my family and I constantly go for walks in nature, and I am interested in the world of sports.

– What are your future goals in poker?
– After purchasing a school membership, I planned for it to be a profitable hobby that would allow me to earn a few extra euros. Currently, I am probably showing my best game. I want to maintain that level and only increase it. Analyzing my game, I still find quite a few mistakes. I think – if I find so many, how many would a coach find! I don't set big goals, I don't dream of winning huge sums.

I will do everything in small steps, patiently learn, be active in school, I have 3 personal lessons with a coach that I plan to use in the near future (already coordinating the time with the coach), and then for sure (now I really know) even better results will come. Of course, the most important goal for today would be to move up the limits.

– What kind of content would you like more of in the Poker School? What should we improve on?
– “PokerioMokykla.com” has very good content, the school is constantly improving, since the beginning of my membership many new things have appeared: live lessons, group discussions, new strong coaches, etc. I heard something about an MTT camp being organized. If that happens, it would be a dream come true for me. At that time, if I couldn't coordinate my vacation with my main job, I would probably quit my job just to participate. In summary, I want to say that I am very happy to have become a member of the school. I want to encourage those who are hesitant not to hesitate, those who are undecided to decide, and those who are procrastinating to stop procrastinating! With “Pokeriomokykla.com” everything is possible and dreams come true! Good luck at the tables!

Below we present the student's game graphs from “SharkScope.com”. The “PartyPoker” and “Winamax” graphs start from February/March of this year. The “PokerStars” red line marks September 20, 2016, when “Zeniok30” became a member of our website.
