Fnatic Rising vs Mousesports, EU Masters 2020-05-02

The second most prestigious League of Legends tournament in Europe, where the second group stage begins. In this match, two teams considered among the tournament favorites will face off, and the winner of the match will practically secure a spot in the next stage. As usual, we will review both teams, highlight the key moments of the match, and provide predictions.

Fnatic Rising

Fnatic Rising is the second LoL e-sports team of the Fnatic organization. This team includes a player who has already played in the strongest European league, MagiFelix (Mid-lane). Although the other starting lineup players are young, they also have high-level experience and high individual skill, which may help them one day join the main team.

There was a lot of speculation that the team's results would worsen this season after Ronaldooo (Support) and Shikari (Top) left, but that did not happen. The team's leader remains the long-time member of the Fnatic organization, MagiFelix, and the team itself focuses on an aggressive and team-based playstyle. Fnatic Rising often uses team compositions described in “game manuals,” which give players more freedom to make decisions.

In this EU Masters season, Fnatic Rising ended up in a group with one of the tournament favorites, the mousesports team. Interestingly, currently, 3 teams in the group have 2 wins and one loss each, so every victory is extremely valuable. If they advance to the next stage from the second position instead of the first, they might face the Schalke Evolution 04 team in the playoffs, which is considered the undisputed favorite of the tournament.

Mousesports

Mousesports is one of the best German LoL teams, competing in the Prime League. In the previous EU Masters season, this organization shared 3-4 places with Fnatic Rising, so a similar or better result will be sought this year. Unlike the Fnatic Rising team, which nurtures the organization's talents, Mousesports focuses more on acquiring good players. The organization, which has become famous in other e-sports disciplines, does not yet have significant achievements in League of Legends, so all efforts are being made to achieve faster and better results by constantly strengthening the lineup.

During the off-season, the team was joined by three former players of the strongest European LoL league: L1DER (Mid-lane), Jeskla (Adc), and promisq (Support), who reached the World Cup final with G2 last season. Looking at the team's lineup and considering the players they managed to attract, it would seem that Mousesports should be the unequivocal favorites of this tournament. However, at least for now, that cannot be said for sure.

Although they won 2 out of 3 matches played, the team's play is completely disorganized, and individually strong players seem to have no mutual connection at all. It appears that each player is playing their own game and not paying attention to the team's success, starting from champion selection to in-game communication. If these elements are fixed, success could be expected, but whether this can be achieved in this tournament is hard to say.

H2H

These teams have already played against each other, and Fnatic Rising won the victory after a tense battle.

Prediction

Two strong teams with different playstyles will meet. While mousesports relies on individual skill and “loose” play, Fnatic Rising does not have such individually strong players but plays more team-oriented and confidently. Since the importance of this match is high, the advantage will be with the team that is better coordinated and makes better decisions at crucial moments of the game. Fnatic Rising has proven to be such a team, so in this match, with equal odds, they are the ones worth attention.
