Why do others succeed in poker and I don't?

Reply to a student's letter:

"Good evening, I am considering applying to your school, but I am also wondering whether I will benefit in any way. I have been playing poker for about 3 years now and I can say that I have a total disadvantage. I make between £25 and £50 a weekend, or rather a day. If fortune smiles on me for a short time, it's enough for a Sunday. The question I am most concerned about is how it is possible to learn this game if, in my opinion, it is a matter of sheer luck. I don't get far and even with my AA luck, fortune loses quite often against 6-5 or even 2-2.I mean, no matter what hands I play, I still become a loser. Can your training help or are you just one of the few lucky babies and you're making a plus? I'm very lucky, just not me and probably not most."
