TSM - Evil Geniuses, LCS 2021-03-27 LCS Playoff Series Review

The LCS 2021 Spring Season Playoffs are in full swing and the losers' bracket will feature two familiar e-sports organisations. Both TSM and Evil Geniuses have set high goals for this season, but with one of them set to finish their season on Saturday, it should be a tense and very interesting series. We'll take a look at both teams and give our predictions for the series, so we encourage you to read to the end.
TSM

TSM

Team SoloMid finished the regular season in 2nd place in the standings, but in the first round of the playoffs they had to play against one of the league favourites, Team Liquid, and suffered a 1-3 loss in the series to 3 wins. It was this defeat that meant that TSM, who dropped to the losers' side of the standings, will have to go through at least 2 more rounds to fight for a place in the semi-finals or even the finals, each of which could be decisive if the team loses at least one more round in the series.

TSM's regular season looked like a roller coaster - a slow start to the season, then a surge, a slump and a strong end to the season. In the first half of the regular season, TSM seemed to be completely disjointed with each other and each player taking care of his own business, while towards the end of the season we could see a lot more initiative to create episodes based on teamwork and exploiting the strengths of the line-ups. PoverOfEvil (PoE) continues to prove that he is worthy of being called one of the best mid-lane players in the NA LCS, while Spica has shown that he was underestimated last season for nothing.

In the big picture, TSM has individually capable players this season, but it is not the same team as it was under Bjergsen. It will probably take more than one season to build a new core, and the first playoff series against Team Liquid has already shown that TSM's playoff path could end very early if they don't take their game to the next level.

Impact EG

Evil Geniuses

Evil Geniuses, who finished only 6th in the regular season, are not as weak as their position in the standings might suggest. Although the regular season didn't go as the team had hoped, it's playoff time and this team, with many experienced players who have played in top level tournaments, will definitely show what they are worth.

Evil Geniuses features multiple LCS champion and one of the best Top lane players in both America and Europe, Impact. One of the best jungle players in the NA LCS, Svenskeren, also has a huge amount of experience in both the LCS and Worlds, and the team also features IgNar (Support) and Jiizuke (Mid-lane). These players are well remembered by all LEC fans as they are very talented and high-risk high-reward players.

This season, the Evil Geniuses are the team that lacks stability the most - in many games they have proved that they can play against the strongest teams in the region, but at times they have struggled when playing against potentially much weaker teams. Comparing EG and TSM, Evil Geniuses' main advantage is a much more stable Top-Jungle duo playing at a higher level these days, while TSM's Bottom lane has looked more capable than EG. The key moment will be the performance of the Mid-lane position players, who will gain priority and be able to create advantages for themselves and their teammates.

Forecast

It's going to be a fascinating series, at the end of which one of the teams will go through to the next round and the other will unfortunately have its season over. It is practically certain that EG will try to play through the top lane and give the most experienced player on the team an advantage over Huni, but TSM should respond by trying to exploit the advantage of the Bot line. We can evaluate each player individually, speculate who is potentially better, etc., but the fact is that in this series, the teams' chances are completely equal and whichever team plays a better series will emerge victorious. In the event of a tie, it is always advisable to back the higher odds - in this case EG.

Evil Geniuses will win, 2.35 kof., betsafe
