Chess has a storied history as a board game. One of the most famous legends is that of the Rajah, the ruler of India, and the Brahmin, the highest caste in Hinduism. - Pat happens when the opponent has nowhere to go and the king is not attacked.
- Matthew occurs when the opponent is given a shah against whom it is no longer possible to defend himself.
The purpose of a chess game, of course, Winwhich is achieved in several cases:
- a measure shall be declared against the opponent;
- when the opponent sees defeat as inevitable and gives up;
- if playing with a clock, when the opponent is out of time and the other opponent has only a lone king.
Occasionally the game ends in a draw when one player has no moves left and the king is not attacked (stalemate) or by agreement of both players, but rule 3 applies:
- when the same chess situation occurs three times in the same order of moves and one of the players claims a draw;
- if no pawn has made a single move and no piece has been cut off in the last 50 moves;
- will not be seen (e.g. only kings remain in the game, etc.)
Chess pieces
In the game of chess, there are in total 32 figures - 16 black and 16 white. Each player has 8 pawns, 2 knights, 2 knights, 2 rooks and one queen and king. One player plays with white pieces, the other with black pieces.
Chess pieces are used strategically to solve tactical problems and achieve objectives. Pieces in the game are usually valued in points and units of measure (e.g. a pawn is worth 1 point, or a knight is worth 3 pawns), but it should be borne in mind that the value of a chess piece depends on its development, its position and the strategy of the game, so that sometimes the value of a chess piece in terms of points is not meaningful.
Chess pieces by importance and value
The King
It is considered the most important chess piece, which cannot be exchanged for any other and can move in all directions within a single square. In terms of fighting ability, the king is considered to be on a par with a knight or knight together with a pawn. This piece cannot be crossed unless, exceptionally, a "prince" appears, a piece with the king's moves without privileges.
White starts the game with one king in square E1 and Black in square E8. In total, the King controls 8 squares. The objective is for White to checkmate Black's King and vice versa. When the king is in an opponent's square that can be crossed, check is declared.
The Empress
The most powerful and strongest chess piece, moving in diagonals, verticals and horizontals. In terms of combat ability, the Queen is stronger than the Rook and the Rook, as she can move to another place on the board in just one move. A weak queen is a princess - a "promoted" pawn that has reached the final rook.
White starts the game with one queen in D1 and Black in D8. In total, the queen controls 27 squares.
Tower
It is also an important piece and is considered one of the strongest pieces in chess, second only to the queen in strength. In addition, the rook is considered stronger than the knight and the knight, and exchanging it for the rook is considered quite an achievement. They can also wipe the nose of the most powerful piece - 2 rooks are more valuable than a queen. Walks diagonally.
White starts the game with two rooks in each corner of his side in squares A1 and H1, and Black in squares A8 and H8. The tower controls 14 cells. The tower can move up to the first obstacle in both horizontal and vertical directions - if an opponent's piece is encountered, it is removed from the board and a tower is proudly placed in its place. In addition, the Rook performs a rook with the King.
Rikis
A piece similar in power to a knight, but weaker than a rook by two pawns. The knight, like the rook, walks diagonally - the white knight in white boxes, the black knight in black boxes. The travel of the rook within the boxes is unrestricted.
White starts the game with two spades (one in the white and one in the black squares) in C1 and F1, and Black in C8 and F8. The rake controls a maximum of 13 cells.
Horse
It is similar to a rickyu in its powers, can jump over shapes, and crosses only in the last square of the move. The knight piece on the chessboard moves in the letter L - two squares horizontally or vertically and then one square perpendicularly. An interesting feature of this piece is that the knight jumps from the black square to the white square and from the white square to the black square.
White starts the game with two knights in squares B1 and G1, and Black in squares B8 and G8. The knight, like the king, controls only 8 squares. If, towards the end of the game, one side has the king and the knight and the other side has only the knight, a draw is declared because checkmate becomes impossible.
Pawn
This one is considered the weakest figure, able to move only forward, unable to jump over anything, and crossing only diagonally standing figures. It is important to note that the placement of pawns on the game board is very important - their moves, groupings, etc. best reflect the strategy of the game.
Players start a chess game with 8 pawns each. White stands on the second line on squares A2, B2, C2, D2, E2, F2, G2, H2 and Black on the seventh line on A7, B7, C7, D7, E7, F7, G7, H7. The pawn controls 2 boxes.

History of the game of chess

Legend has it that Balhait, the then Raja of India, declared that he would give a generous reward to whoever could create a game of intelligence, wisdom, logical thinking, diligence, courage and skill. A Brahmin named Sissa proposed a war-related game played on a wooden board with 64 cells, with special pieces to represent different ranks of soldiers. The Raja liked the game immensely and, in order to repay him, allowed him to ask for any kind of reward.
Sissa only asked for cereals. This might seem a small reward for a game that was already one of the most popular at the time, but the beauty of the legend was in the grain. It turns out that the Brahmin asked for just one grain for the first box, twice as many for the second box, and again for the third box, until, by the time he reached the final 64th box, the number of grains had reached 9 223 372 036 854 775 808! Interestingly, to grow that much grain, the entire surface of the Earth has to be sown with grain 8 times. Of course, this figure proves that the limits of the human mind and its possibilities are unlimited - just like in the game of chess.
