"PokerFish: "Lithuanian poker players are brutally good in a global context"

In the Lithuanian poker scene, PokerFish is a household name. However, not everyone knows its history. That's why we interviewed this well-known social media personality not only about his own activities, but also about Lithuanian poker itself.

- Where did "PokerFishas"? What is that origin story? Why that name?
- Pokerfish - is a poker enthusiast who, while learning to play this fantastic game, decided to share his experiences with other poker enthusiasts. Since he didn't know how to play, and since poker terminology "fishas" - not the best player, he was a perfect fit Pokerfisho Name. Originally Pokerfish was a blog with a lot of different thoughts, but time has moved on, the internet has changed, and now it's much more interesting for everyone to follow social networks rather than detailed blog posts.

- How the whole "PokerFisho" development? What have been the stages leading up to the current situation in Lithuanian poker?
- I think that poker in Lithuania is quite mature now. All the real audiences of poker players have been formed: professionals who make money from poker, amateurs and casual players whose priority is simply to have a good time, the moneyed dotters, primary school kids who are very curious about everything, astronauts who saw some of the more interesting hands on the internet and think they're about to become millionaires. That's why tournaments like the Fisherman's Challenge are particularly interesting, because you can find players in all these categories.

- What would be the most interesting story you would tell during your lifetime "PokerFishas"?
There are many, but probably the most memorable was a poker trip that lasted about a month, when I travelled through America and Europe, playing poker in every city I visited. It was also Milwaukee, and Chicago, and Atlantic SitisBrussels, Amsterdam, London, Barcelona, and many other cities. Everything was interesting, from the different people at the table, their stories and the opportunity to travel while playing your favourite game. By the way, the tradition of visiting a new city and playing poker there has remained to this day.

- "PokerFisho" free tournaments are more for beginners. Why focus on them and not look beyond?
I have noticed that my tournament "Betsafe"The poker room is not only for beginners, but also for a lot of casual players who just come to have a good time on a Monday night, so I wouldn't say it's just for beginners. We've had a few tournaments where the prize pool has been around €1,000, or where we've given away tickets to other, bigger tournaments.

In fact, there are ideas to organise in autumn Pokerfisho a league where we could play a certain number of tournaments and choose a leader of the rankings, who would receive some special a prize. But we're still thinking about what that might look like. In any case, if we do organise a league, it will definitely be more than just free tournaments.

- According to "PokerFisho", Lithuania "fish" becoming less or more? How would you assess the level of poker in Lithuania?
Lithuanian poker players are awfully good in a global context. I think the main reason is that abroad people come to play poker because they just want to have a good time, whereas in Lithuania and other neighbouring countries people come to win. Therefore, there are a lot more sharp emotions here, cries of victory, disappointment at losing. This is a good situation because if you learn to play well in Lithuania, you can look very good in international tournaments.

- Are there any thoughts "PokerFishui" become " "PokerShark"? Or should there be "PokerShark" and both poker characters cooperate? What are your immediate plans? Just to continue what has been started, or something more?
Good offer for PokerSharko, I'll be waiting for him to turn up so we can face him at the poker table immediate plans to continue to have a good time at the poker table both online, and live, to organise my name tournament on Mondays "Betsafe", offer Pokerfisho League and keep capturing interesting hands and sharing them on my Facebook page. I hope you will find it interesting
