Last Fisherman's Challenge winner A. Voišnis: high stakes heads-up battles and the best form of his life

You are the winner of the last Fisherman's Challenge. Do you want to take part from 1-10 March and defend your title?

Alexander 'Kobaster' Voishny: Yes. Absolutely. It's going to be a great series.

How do you like the changes to this series: €100,000 Main Event. Also that there will be starting days in Riga, Tallinn and Betsafe Poker online chambers? What do you think about raising the highroller to as much as €750?

Alexander 'Kobaster' Voishny: Only positive, the more money the better 🙂

Tell us what you remember - i.e. the highlights of the last Fisherman's Challenge victory. For example, I remember you and I sitting at the same table on the first day, and you stunned me in a very powerful way when I tried to bluff you and one other oppa out by donkleading a low paired flop from the SB, when you had a higher pocket pair and the turn was the full house.

Alexander 'Kobaster' Voishny: Well, I don't really remember much. I only remember 4 or 5 players down, I won a huge pot against Povilas Jakutis with a full house against a flush, which I'd call the turning point, because after that I became a big chip leader and it was much easier to play.

How did you find the heads up battle? You were left playing against Algirdas Saveikis and didn't even consider the possibility of a flip. What made you decide that?

Alexander 'Kobaster' Voishny: In reality we shared the money and only played for the cup, Algis didn't overdo it 🙂

Immediately after winning the Fisherman's Challenge, the very next month, you had an even bigger hit in a live tournament in Morocco: you won 58,000 with a WPTDeepStacks highroller. This is your biggest win, and it's the one that helped you climb up the list of the highest-earning Lithuanian poker players. What did this win mean for you and your poker career? How did you celebrate the win? What are your impressions of the series in general?

Alexander 'Kobaster' Voishny: This win was mainly a confidence boost for my poker career, which I had lost a bit. I celebrated quite modestly, as there were still a lot of tournaments left in the series. My impressions are great: great weather, good field and money won. What more is needed...

In online poker, you are well-known around the world, especially among heads-up and spin and go professionals. Many years ago, when I used to get some high stakes hand histories, I used to see you fearlessly battling against the best 1-5k turbo regs, just like in husng hyper turbo high stakes. Tell us about the reasons behind these reg wars? Did you have any goals to establish yourself in those limits?

Alexander 'Kobaster' Voishny: It wasn't about necessarily fitting into those limits, it was probably more personal ambition to play with the best, which came at a high cost :))))

Your online poker schedule is impressive. However, it seems that thanks to husng, or rather playing with the best husngers in the world, you've swung way down the ladder. Would you still be trying to do that now?

HUSNG Schedule:

Alexander 'Kobaster' Voishny: I wouldn't do it again, now all the focus is on mtt games.

Are you still ambitious with heads-up online these days? Do you think this variation can still be highly profitable with the advent of spin and go?

Alexander 'Kobaster' Voishny: I don't really have any goals with hu anymore, but anyway I learned a lot from hu which is very useful for mtt games. In fact, there is very little action in hu now. With the advent of spins, I don't see much promise in them.

By the way, your online results are impressive - you've made over 90k profit in the last six months. Is this the best form of poker you've ever had? How are you improving off-tables?

Alexander 'Kobaster' Voishny: This is probably the best form, but I hope for even better in the future. I'm getting better just by playing - if you're in the same situation n times, you get better and better at it. I've never once in my life watched my hh.

Coming back to Fisherman and other upcoming live series in Lithuania, what suggestions do you have for the organisers to make the upcoming series even more interesting?

Alexander 'Kobaster' Voishny: I will leave the organisational issues to the organisers, who I think are doing a great job.
