Poker is a very broad field, with countless types of games, countless variations of the same game, dozens of films, hundreds of books and thousands of pages on the internet with strategies and videos on how to play poker. But they all share the same fundamental principles. It's like mathematics, it comes down to 4 basic steps. The same in poker, it's all about having a good grasp of the basics, and I suppose you'd agree that it would be difficult to solve maths problems without knowing how to multiply or divide? The same in poker, it would be difficult to expect serious success without a good grasp of the basics and a correct understanding.
The Secret of Poker
A lot of young players ask for advice, hoping to find out some "poker secret" that the good players know and hide from everyone else, hoping that there is some special "move" or special "calculation" that will turn a bad player into a winner. Most of them want to know some quick "method" to become a winning player overnight. Quick methods to learn poker are like quick credit to get rich 😉
Unfortunately, there is no secret 🙂 And thank God, because otherwise it would be practically impossible to become a good player on your own. What then is the secret of a successful game? The long, long and hard road of learning. You could compare it to playing the guitar, first you learn how to hold the guitar correctly, you learn how to hold your hands correctly, you learn how to pluck the strings, you learn the movements of your fingers. You learn one chord, then the second chord, and only when you've worked it out individually do you learn how to put it all together. And you have to follow the tempo, not just the chords. It takes a lot of time, work and patience before you start playing the guitar with complete freedom. The same in poker. You start by learning the different elements of poker and then you try to put them together, you learn how to think right, how to make the right decisions. Your learning journey is like climbing a big mountain, you can't get to the top where the other PROs are, you have to start at the bottom and work your way up.
You can choose to become a much happier poker player. If you started to learn guitar chords from your head instead of from teachers and books, do you think you would benefit a lot? If you climb a big mountain without a guide or a map, you may never get there.

We'll show you how good poker players think, how you need to think for yourself and how to form a habit. We will provide you with all the necessary learning resources (books, videos). But it's up to you to "learn to play" poker - no matter how good your guitar teacher is, it's still up to you to learn to play.
How long does it take to learn to play poker? The game is so deep that a lifetime may not be enough. But the good news is, once you've mastered the basics, you can be playing winning poker after just a few lessons and analyses.
You just have to understand that learning poker the right way is not about secrets or "special" moves, it's about thinking the right way, you have to learn to think like a good player.
The PokerSchool.com site is self-learning, with various teachers preparing and posting their own videos and training programmes. Some are for cash players, some for tournament players, some for your psychology, etc. It is important that you show yourself to be active, watch the videos that the trainers are putting out, choose your own area of expertise, what you want to learn to play.
