Pre-flop action: when your stack tells you to push all in

gangster

If there is no raise yet, push All in preflop immediately if you have 9BB or less.

Even the best laid plans sometimes don't work. Your chip stack is running low and you will need to perform an All In action to return to the hunt for victory. The time to take this action is when you have 9BB or less. And you want to be the first aggressor in the hand.

Why have 9BB and not say 10?

Nine blinds gives you slightly better odds for this game. For example, if you call 3x preflop and your opponent pushes all in, the odds of calling would be about 2.25 to 1.

If you have 10 blinds in the same scenario, you get 2 to 1.

And the reason why you are pushing all in and not just raising is because you want to make it as difficult as possible for your opponents to respond to your bet. Also, you need to accumulate and increase your chip stack, and doubling up here is critical if you want to win.

Example:

You get a pair of pocket sevens. The early stages of the tournament. Blinds are 150-300, you have 2400. Everyone folds to your middle position. So what do you do?

If you raise to 900 and either player calls, you are in the unenviable position of wanting to catch a set on the flop. If someone stops all in the pot will be 3,750 and you will get a 2.5 to 1 call. You must call.

For this reason, it is better to push All in right away. You'll either win the blinds, more than double up, or get knocked out of the tournament. Don't be afraid of risk

Tip: All in pushing from an early position

When your chip stack drops to 9BB or less, you need to risk everything until you are in the blind again. If you have been dealt a terribly bad hand and are now in early position, you are now in an even worse position than you are now. With more players left in the hand, there is a better chance that one of your opponents will find a good enough hand to call.

It doesn't really matter what your opponents have, you just have to go all in. Don't just look for pairs, two pictures or an ace. Add all suited connectors too. Even if your hand is only slightly better than Q-6, you must still push all in.
