France - Germany, Euro 2020 match preview and prediction

Day 5 of the Euro 2020 football championship, where two football giants will face off. The German national team hosts France at the Allianz Arena in Munich. We'll take a look at the two teams, the main aspects of the match and, as usual, share our predictions.
France

France

World champion France last won the European football championship in 2000, and if they succeed this year, they will finally silence the sceptics and prove once again that they are the best team in the world. Group D, where these teams play, is considered a "killer group", because in addition to France and Germany, Portugal and Hungary are also in the group. Nevertheless, the French team is not only considered the favourite to win the group, but the bookmakers believe in the chances of the French team to win the whole tournament.

Veteran Karim Banzema will also be part of the French squad at this tournament. However, Benzema suffered a minor injury last week, so if he is unable to play in the first game, he could be replaced by another familiar face - Olivier Giroud. Add Antoine Griezmann and Kylian Mbappe to one of these players and you have an impressive attacking line-up that will be incredibly difficult to handle even for the strongest teams.

The French national team plays a rather pragmatic football, aiming to defeat their opponents with a confident and functioning strategy, rather than individual actions. The team plays disciplined football, so it is difficult to find fault with the team's game. Of course, Germany is a serious contender for the first match of the tournament, but the World Champions are likely to show why they are considered the favourites to triumph in the group.

Germany

Germany

This is the last tournament for the German national team under the coaching of Joachim Low. Of course, the team will do its best to say goodbye to its long-time coach in the best of spirits and with a successful tournament, but the qualification phase has raised a lot of questions about the team's play. A 1-1 home defeat to Denmark and a 1-2 loss to North Macedonia. Although North Macedonia is not a great defensive team, the German team had only 2 shots on target in that match. However, the team recovered a bit by beating Latvia 7-1 in a friendly match just before the championship.

This year's German national team is full of talented young players and experienced veterans. Neuer, one of the world's best goalkeepers, will be in goal, while in defence we will see Ginter, Hummels and Rudiger, all of whom have had great seasons with their clubs. On the right flank, we will see J. Kimmich, while Toni Kroos and I. Gundogan will be up front. Muller has also returned to the squad and should be back in the striker's line-up along with Havertz and Gnabry.

Likely starting eleven teams\

France (4-3-1-2): Hugo Lloris; Benjamin Pavard, Raphael Varane, Presnel Kimpembe, Lucas Hernandez; N'Golo Kante, Paul Pogba, Adrien Rabiot; Antoine Griezmann; Kylian Mbappe, Karim Benzema.

Germany (3-4-2-1): Manuel Neuer; Matthias Ginter, Matt Hummels, Antonio Rudiger; Joshua Kimmich, Toni Kroos, Ilkay Gundogan, Robin Gosens; Kai Havertz, Thomas Muller; Serge Gnabry.

Forecast

There is no question about the talent and ability of the German team, so it is very likely that although France is one of the best defending teams in the tournament, Germany will score. However, France's attacking ability is not even worth talking about - the team has some of the best players in the world, so France will be able to score more than once against a German defence that has scored goals against both North Macedonia and Latvia.
