Since 1998, the World Cup has been held with 32 participants, and in 2026 the number reached 48 for the first time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Four teams are participating for the first time in history: Curacao, Uzbekistan, Jordan and Cape Verde. This is the third World Cup in a row without Italians.
