This means that they will be taxed on $60,000.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This change could mean that professionals who make a lot of trades and experience large fluctuations will have to pay taxes on money they never had.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Representative Titus pushed for the inclusion of the FAIR BET Act in the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), and Senator Ted Cruz (R-Texas), a known poker enthusiast, supported it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On the other hand, the Republican-led Rules Committee rejected the proposal.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"770\" height=\"508\" src=\"https:\/\/pokeriomokykla.com\/app\/uploads\/2025\/09\/image-7.jpg\" alt=\"Rep. Matthew Winterhawk, a Republican running for Governor, criticised Titus in a 46-second video.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He said that she is only interested in &#8220;gamblers and casinos&#8221; and that the government should not &#8220;support gambling&#8221;.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Winterhawk even compared gambling to heroin use, even though most US states allow gambling and the federal government prohibits drug use.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-media-max-width=\"560\"><p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Nope. \ud83d\udc4e\ud83c\udffb fair bet act subsidizes gamblers. Period. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/j9OeEkOgaQ\">pic.twitter.com\/j9OeEkOgaQ-<\/a><\/p> Matthew Winterhawk (@W4Nevada) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/W4Nevada\/status\/1965475611402797403?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">September 9, 2025<\/a><\/blockquote> <script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script>\n\n\n\n\n<p>The poker community has stated that the FAIR BET Act is not about subsidies, but is about ensuring that those whose jobs depend on the game are taxed fairly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Reaction_from_the_poker_community\"><\/span>Reaction from the poker community<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The rejection of the FAIR BET Act has provoked a strong reaction from the poker world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Phil Hellmuth, who has won several WSOP bracelets, called the provision a &#8220;death tax on poker players&#8221;.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Daniel Negreanu and Phil Galfond have also spoken out against the new tax policy, pointing out that it could be disastrous for the professional game of poker.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Tax experts such as Ray Kondler of Kondler CPAs argue that if the rule remains in place, it will have a significant impact on amateur and professional players.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Many professionals worry that higher taxes will reduce the number of people who want to play poker, which will hurt the US poker economy in the long run.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Whats_next_for_the_gaming_tax_fight\"><\/span>What's next for the gaming tax fight?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;The Fair Bet Act remains ineffective. It is unclear what Rep.
